Exploring key moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and subverting them, leading viewers into uncharted territory. Chadwick Boseman’s final Marvel project before his death. The Watcher: [Opening narration for each episode] Time. Space. Reality. This is more than a linear path. It is a prism of infinite possibilities, where a single choice can branch into infinite realities, creating alternate worlds based on the ones you know. I am the Watcher. I am your guide through these vast new realities. Follow me and ponder the question… “What if?” After the Marvel logo appears, it changes into an animated form in the show’s graphic style. Edited for Marvel Studios: Legends: Guardians of the Multiverse (2023). A very simple episode, where the rush is to put the pieces of the puzzle together. My facial expression was also quite simple as I watched this episode, because there was no thrill or even a logical narrative to it. I understand that this is maybe an animated series aimed at kids? But only kids who have already become familiar with the entire MCU will be able to enjoy it. Let’s see how the rest of the episodes play out, but I’m certainly not too excited about them after this one. Edit: Episode 2 gave an actual sense of what the MCU is all about, it was creative and thoughtful, with major “WHAT IF” moments. I really enjoyed seeing T’challa back on screen. However, episode 3 was a dealbreaker and forced me to edit this review. Watching this episode was so exciting and thrilling that I could have watched the whole movie. We re-explored the characters we know to a level that leaves you wanting more. Hopefully I can get 10 stars by the end of the season. Edit II: Here’s another star from me for a “weird” 39; yet thought-provoking episode that was by far the best of the bunch in terms of writing, storytelling, animation, and plot. Special mention to Benedict Cumberbatch for speaking his mind like a boss. Hats off to Marvel for making this happen. However, in episode 5, it was certainly fun, humorous, and engaging with high-quality animation, but again, it showed too much at once without giving viewers enough time to soak things in. Still a 9/Overall, a 10 for the series at least until the next two episodes. They need to finish episode 4 to get a 10 from me.
