Britain allowed filming inside the Foreign Secretary’s office, a rare honor given to any film or film production , especially American
Chronology
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is given a high-profile job for which she is ill-suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both American & British governments to allow them to use real environments as filming locations for the series, including the still recent US embassy (at Nine Elms) which opened in 2018.
Presented at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024)
The only unavailable location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the US ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest plot of residential land (11 hectares) in London other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.
Absolutely superb production and acting
The script is smart and interesting, engaging and well-paced. The character development is quite robust and the players are not simple caricatures.
Professional situations that suddenly turn into “I’m just a girl, I’m standing in front of a boy” seemingly out of nowhere
Time and time again a character seems one-dimensional at first, but then the story develops and they are actually much more complex than first glance. My only complaint is that some of the introduced "romance" the stories are so messy and out of place that they are disjointed and disturbing.
Someone decided to turn up the soap a little and that doesn’t improve the result
