Britain allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, an honor rarely granted to any film or screen production, especially an American one
Chronology
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands a high-profile job for which she is ill-suited and which has tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both the American and British governments to allow them to use real-life settings as filming locations for the series, including the still-recent US Embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.

One missing location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the US ambassador. Although it is accurately described as the largest residential plot in London (11 hectares) besides Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming.
The Diplomat has everything you want in a great series
it has comedy, drama, great acting and writing etc etc. The series is about a diplomat (Keri Russell) who has a new job as the UK ambassador after an international crisis when an aircraft carrier is attacked.
I loved this show so much I binged all eight episodes in one weekend
She also has a deal with her husband (Rufus Sewell), already a political star, and their rocky marriage. It’s done so well and been so well received that it’s already received an early renewal for a second season.
I’m definitely looking forward to watching it and seeing where this show goes
