Everyday life is a constant struggle for survival, but Maya holds on. I watched the series from the 70s when I was little, so I knew the story, but I don’t remember enough to compare it to the movie.
And I was not disappointed!
Therefore, I went to the cinema with a fairly fresh look and an open mind. Amanda Jansson plays Maya beautifully.
Jansson is the heart of this beautiful film
She is raw, free, strong, and Jansson’s talent really shines through in her role as Maya. The story of love is captivating, and although the duration of this film is quite long, almost 3 hours, I did not take my eyes off the screen, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the Åland Islands and the exciting story.
It’s just amazing, and I was very moved by this film
He paints a fascinating picture of harsh life on the archipelago in the 1800s, allowing us to follow the beautiful Maya, her husband Janne and their family. The plot and editing were a bit unstable at first, but as soon as Maya and Yanne start living together, the film finds its rhythm.
I can’t wait to see him again soon
I was moved to tears in parts of the film and almost didn’t want it to end.
