Chronology
At the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, a young Bob Dylan propelled folk music into a shift toward electric, sing-along rock as the voice of a generation – defining one of the most transformative moments in 20th-century music in Rhode Island, where Bob Dylan made his first public appearance on electric guitar and recorded at the seaside resort of Cape May, New Jersey. Minimal renovation was required as the resort is committed to designation as a National Historic Landmark for its concentration of Victorian architecture and other 19th- and 20th-century architectural motifs.
