Microsoft certainly needs a good reason to retract its previous statements and continue to abandon Windows 10, introducing a new operating system number. The giant from Redmond has long been preparing a redesign for the update codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – it seems that Windows 11 was called by this name on the network The Sun Valley project – in the manner of Microsoft, which regularly revealed information about the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles developed realistic concepts based on all this data. – Start and system items will float above the bottom bar. It is not surprising that in Windows 11 the developers will redesign it again, but not so much from a functional point of view as from a visual point of view – the Start window will move above the bottom bar. Judging by the information on the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “interior” of this menu – the innovations will only affect the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float, and its design will be exactly the same as the “Start”. The action center will be combined with the control buttons together – a similar one has been used in other operating systems for a long time.

Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it will be an island – the control buttons will be located in a separate panel, notifications will be in another, and specific elements (for example, the player) on another. Indeed, insiders and concept designers do not agree on this issue – some are sure that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will retain right angles, while others are sure that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fillet trend. The latter better fits the definition of “completely new Windows” – mouse cursor hover menus are not enough to consider a new design truly new. Tabs are expected to affect practically everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows.

There are disagreements on the Web about the island style of window displays, corner design and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of windows. Most design leaks and renders show transparency and fading in all windows, whether it is at least the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak gadgets.
